Making Room HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO
Plant a Tree with FWP If you purchase the new title Dear Earth, I Love You Too!, print or e-book, or any title from the series Frankie & Peaches: Tales of Total Kindness, Favorite World Press will plant one native tree through our partnership with Tree-Nation. Two books, two trees. Three books, three trees. Dear Earth, plus the entire F&P series – a starter forest!

THE POWER OF TREES

Just one tree will absorb 48 pounds of carbon dioxide and produce approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per year. One mature tree can also filter as much as 36,500 gallons of drinking water per year. Just one square kilometer of forest may be home to more than 1,000 species, including many threatened and endangered plants and animals. And an acre of forest can consume all the pollution produced by a car driven 26,000 miles a year. Now, how cool is that!

Tree-mendous new research estimates that a worldwide planting program could remove two-thirds of all emissions in the atmosphere making global tree restoration our most effective climate change solution to date! So please join us, plant with F & P, plant with Tree-Nation, plant with WeForest, plant with American Forests. Wherever you are, just find a patch in need and plant one or two or ten for the planet!

Make It Better For Butterflies If you have ever been lucky enough to stand in a swirl of monarch butterflies or enjoyed just a single fluttery fly-by, you'll agree they are some of our planet's most excellent occupants. These orange and black marvels cannot survive without milkweed. They lay their eggs on the plants, and the caterpillars that hatch from the eggs feed on the leaves. Sadly, because of milkweed habitat loss and other environmental stressors, North American monarch populations have declined from more than 1 billion to 50 million over the past two decades. Here are some things you can do to make it better for monarch butterflies so they don't disappear:

Keep the flutter going by learning more about monarchs from WWF.
Make your yard a home and plant milkweed. You can get seeds from Save Our Monarchs.
Get the dirt on planting a butterfly-friendly garden from Monarch Joint Venture.
And you can help to ensure that displaced, injured or orphaned animals will always have a safe place to be by supporting organizations dedicated to providing rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong sanctuary. Show Your Planet Appreciation When you think about the must-have items that the Earth provides every single day like clean air, water, and food, plus the magical extras like perfect pandas, starry skies and fireflies you just want to say, "Hey, thanks, Earth!" Here are some easy ways to show our planet a little appreciation by saving energy, reducing waste, keeping it cool, reusing, and recycling. It's not just for paper and plastic anymore. You can recycle glass, metal, and gadgets too, including computers and cell phones. Get from point A to point B with pedal power. Set your home thermostat on sweater weather this winter and pop on a cozy wooly. Keep plastic wrap, bags, bottles, and straws on the shelf and off the ground. Switch off lights when you leave a room. Just don't leave anyone in the dark. Fill up at home and carry your water with you in a reusable bottle. Give your old jeans a new lease on life by donating to a clothing recycling center. Make room in your life and on your plot for some greenery. Trees and plants absorb CO2 and release oxygen, and look good while they do it. Replace those boring old light bulbs with swirly, curly energy efficient bulbs. Keep your fruit and vegetables close and support local farms. Or better yet, grow your own orangey carrots and leafy greens.
